Biography of Wade D. Harris

Wade D. Harris is the director of wellLIFE’s Health and Medical Exercise Center. Under the medical supervision of a nurse practitioner, Wade meets with individual clients to discuss the most beneficial and safe exercise plan available. Thereafter, Wade designs exercise programs specifically for the patient’s care. Given the client’s health needs, Wade identifies specific goals to lower and maintain glucose levels.  He also provides an exercise regime for the patient’s fitness level and tolerance; and he establishes fitness goals for the patient.

Wade’s educational training began at the University of Florida in Gainesville (UFG), a college known for its exercise physiology program.  While at UFG, Wade played Varsity basketball for Coach Norm Sloan.  In 1984, he transferred to California State University at Hayward.  At CSU, Wade studied under Dr. Donald Chu, one of the nation’s most respected authorities in biomechanics and sports medicine.  He earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education in 1986.

Wade’s career path began in California.  He learned telemarketing and sales skills in one of the nation’s fastest growing and most successful health club chains, 24 Hour Fitness.  While continuing his commitment to physical fitness, Wade honed his sales and marketing abilities and combined them with a passion to help people achieve their personal goals. In 1989, Wade returned to his home state of North Carolina and assumed a position with Spa Health Club.  He continued his successful business career.  He earned the honor as the leading company sales agent for four consecutive years.  Wade received several promotions becoming the first African-American manager in the Spa Health Club’s history.

Wade is also an entrepreneur.  He is the owner and founder of PHASE II Personal Training Centers.  Phase II is a personal training facility where workouts are scheduled by appointment only.  In 1993, Wade began operating PHASE II in Raleigh, North Carolina out of a local health club.  Three years later, he opened his first workout facility.  To date, PHASE II is one of the preeminent personal training operations in the Southeast region.  With more than one hundred (100) fulltime trainers, PHASE II operates at thirteen (13) different locations throughout North Carolina and Tampa, Florida.  Wade continues to focus his energy on building PHASE II into a national organization.  In February 2007, Wade Harris celebrated his 11th year as owner and founder of PHASE II Personal Training Centers.

In addition to overseeing the operation of his training centers, Wade is a distinguished faculty member with Health Designs International where he teaches marketing and sales techniques.  Wade is also a sought after motivational speaker who travels around the country for Health Designs International.  Additionally, Wade serves on the Wake County Council on Physical Fitness and Health.  He writes a monthly column for the Triangle Business Journal.  He has served as chairman of the Health Promotion Work Group for Project Direct.

True to his passion of helping people achieve their personal goals, Wade volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of Raleigh, NC, Strengthening the Black Family, and Project Direct.  He serves as an Outreach Ministry Leader for the Body of Christ Church.  Wade’s motto in life is “Do your very best at all times.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.  Be forgiving and have fun!”

Wade is married to Jacqueline Harris.  The couple has two beautiful children: Del Laurentis and Lakeisha.  They have one granddaughter, Andrica Pratt.
