Biography of Wade D. Harris
Wade D. Harris is the director of
wellLIFE’s
Health and
Medical Exercise Center. Under the medical supervision of a nurse
practitioner, Wade meets with individual clients to discuss the most
beneficial and safe exercise plan available. Thereafter, Wade designs
exercise programs specifically for the patient’s care.
Given the client’s health needs, Wade identifies specific goals to lower
and maintain glucose levels. He also provides an exercise regime
for the patient’s fitness level and tolerance; and he establishes
fitness goals for the patient.
Wade’s educational training began at the University of Florida in
Gainesville (UFG), a college known for its exercise physiology program.
While at UFG, Wade played Varsity basketball for Coach Norm
Sloan. In 1984, he
transferred to California State University at Hayward.
At CSU, Wade studied under Dr. Donald Chu, one of the nation’s
most respected authorities in biomechanics and sports medicine.
He earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology and
Physical Education in 1986.
Wade’s career path began in California.
He learned telemarketing and sales skills in one of the nation’s
fastest growing and most successful health club chains, 24 Hour Fitness.
While continuing his commitment to physical fitness, Wade honed
his sales and marketing abilities and combined them with a passion to
help people achieve their personal goals. In 1989, Wade returned to his
home state of North Carolina and assumed a position with Spa Health
Club. He continued his
successful business career.
He earned the honor as the leading company sales agent for four
consecutive years. Wade
received several promotions becoming the first African-American manager
in the Spa Health Club’s history.
Wade is also an entrepreneur.
He is the owner and founder of PHASE II Personal Training
Centers. Phase II is a
personal training facility where workouts are scheduled by appointment
only. In 1993, Wade began
operating PHASE II in Raleigh, North Carolina out of a local health
club. Three years later, he
opened his first workout facility.
To date, PHASE II is one of the preeminent personal training
operations in the Southeast region.
With more than one hundred (100) fulltime trainers, PHASE II
operates at thirteen (13) different locations throughout North Carolina
and Tampa, Florida. Wade
continues to focus his energy on building PHASE II into a national
organization. In February
2007, Wade Harris celebrated his 11th year as owner and
founder of PHASE II Personal Training Centers.
In addition to overseeing the operation of his training centers,
Wade is a distinguished faculty member with Health Designs International
where he teaches marketing and sales techniques.
Wade is also a sought after motivational speaker who travels
around the country for Health Designs International.
Additionally, Wade serves on the Wake County Council on Physical
Fitness and Health. He
writes a monthly column for the
Triangle Business Journal.
He has served as chairman of the Health Promotion Work Group for
Project Direct.
True to his passion of helping people achieve their personal goals, Wade
volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club of Raleigh, NC, Strengthening the
Black Family, and Project Direct.
He serves as an Outreach Ministry Leader for the Body of Christ
Church. Wade’s motto in
life is “Do your very best at all times.
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
Be forgiving and have fun!”
Wade is married to Jacqueline Harris.
The couple has two beautiful children: Del Laurentis and Lakeisha.
They have one granddaughter, Andrica Pratt.
